MEET THE TEAM

Graham Lindsay, master craftsman and the creator of ‘The Belfast Bookcase Company’.  Graham’s passion and eye for detail is the drive behind the high standards which are set in the business.

Graham is an award winning designer maker and Fellow of the ‘Institute of Carpenters’ holding the highest accolade of his profession in Ireland (Master Joiner) awarded in July 2005.

Grahams experience has come from working within the industry for 30 years, spending five years as an apprentice wood machinist, training in ‘The International Boatbuilding College’ and ‘The Thomas Chippendale School of Furniture’. Graham has a vast knowledge within the woodworking industry and passes that knowledge on to the people who make products in the business, by advocating continual improvement.

Phil Haines (production manager) Phil is a talented cabinet maker and carpenter. Phil is that soldier that every business needs. He is a grafter and has a confidence in what he does and rightfully so, due to his wealth of experience in cabinetmaking and architectural joinery work. His experience coupled with a great work ethic means when you throw a difficult job at Phil, he will deal with it in an accurate and efficient manner. He has a great ability to plan, think ahead and handle multiple projects. Phil has passion for making the great work that comes our way and has pride in seeing a project to fruition and is responsible for some of our innovative manufacturing processes.

Ben Acheson (apprentice cabinet maker) Ben started with us doing a short spell of work experience and after that experience was encouraged to take to the trade and become an apprentice cabinetmaker. After a period of time and training Bens skills have raised to a level at which he can handle various phases of projects moving through the workshop and includes using woodworking machinery and bench tasks. Also Ben is more than competent when it comes to handling the critical step of finishing of the furniture including spray painting and clear lacquers using the various quality bits of spray equipment we utilise. I refer to the finishing as the icing on the cake, and we don’t just let anyone loose at the finishing phase!
